Position Title: Assistant Professor of Agribusiness / Program Coordinator

Faculty Rank: 10-month, tenure track Assistant Professor

Exempt/Contract Renewable each academic year with satisfactory job performance.

The Plaster School of Business at Missouri Southern State University is seeking innovative and collaborative candidate for a 10-month tenure track Assistant Professor and Agribusiness Program Coordinator (Title III Grant) starting on August 01, 2025, for the new Agribusiness degree program. Partially funded by the Title III Grant, the individual will serve as a coordinator and instructor.

Position Purpose: The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Agribusiness program includes eight new courses. The Assistant Professor / Program Coordinator will be responsible for preparing, developing, and teaching (piloting) these courses and coordinating the development of the program according to the Title III grant timeline. MSSU partnerships will provide students with two years of study at colleges with highly regarded, well developed, transferable Agriculture and Agribusiness degree options. The typical teaching load is up to 3 to 4 courses in the program each fall and spring semester. Summer teaching load is available based upon enrollment. Evidence of successful teaching in the field or a strong potential for successful teaching is required.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Agribusiness or a closely related field is preferred; however, faculty candidates for coordinator, at a minimum, will hold a master’s degree with at least three years of higher education instructional experience. Preferred Qualifications:

- Prior teaching experience at the university level; minimum of three years.

- Experience in industry or applied research within the agribusiness domain.

- Professional certifications or affiliations related to the field.

  • Current established classroom and online teaching effectiveness in Business education with a demonstrated commitment to fostering a learning environment supportive of the University and Department Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Has a commitment to lifelong learning and successful experience mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Able to adapt easily to multiple deadlines, technology, and student needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach undergraduate courses in Agricultural Marketing, Finance, Price, Environmental Economics and related areas within Agribusiness.
  • Coordination, documentation, and achievement of Title III grant activities, reports, and key performance indicators.
  • Documentation of program outcomes and curriculum map.
  • Contribute actively to curriculum development, innovation in pedagogy, and program enhancement.
  • Engage in scholarly activity that is relevant to the field.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, such as committee assignments, academic advising, and degree recruitment
  • Enrollment efforts, marketing the program and attending recruitment events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Ability to interact with individuals either via technology or in person. Ability to be present via technology or in person during office hours and in class if needed.
